Abstract

This article aims to discuss about the role played by three constitutional principles – legal certainty, confidence protection and prohibition of regression – in ensuring and maintaining social rights, showing, initially, the peculiarities of the relationship between them and the aforesaid principles. After cementing the way by the exposure of general aspects about the legal certainty and confidence protection, and, at the end, some considerations about prohibition of regression, the text shows the size of the restriction that is imposed on regressive measures, and what are the conditions to enable them to operate.
